What is the P&C?
At Manly Village Public School we have a wonderfully dynamic Parents & Citizens (P&C) Association. One of the main aims of the parents of the P&C is to improve the school experience for every child (beyond that which the Department of Education and Communities (DEC) provides) in a non-political, non-discriminatory manner.
What can I expect at a meeting?
The P&C meets on the 2nd Monday of the month in the school library. We start at 7pm sharp and finish by 9pm. One of the main roles of the P&C is to raise funds for important resources in addition to those funded by the Department of Education and Communities (DEC). In recent years funding has been allocated mainly to smartboards. By attending P&C meetings you have the opportunity to vote on how funds are spent and discuss many aspects of the school.
What activities are the parents of the P&C involved in?
This school has a great tradition of parental involvement. The parents of the P&C are involved with a huge array of projects throughout the school, capturing a broad range of interests and talents. These include grounds, canteen, uniform, band, fundraising, school magazine and Manly Market.
Each year an Annual General meeting is held at which the Executive members are voted in. This is advertised in the Seasider Newsletter. The MVPS P&C Executive comprises the President, two Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer and Library Trust Fund Administrator. One of the Executive members also participates in decision making on the School Council, as the P&C representative. The P&C is also represented on the Library Trust Fund committee, by the P&C President.
